Thanks for your indulgence everyone, while The Mudflats has gone in to low gear for the holidays. You can always depend on the daily open thread as a place to post links, and enjoy good conversation. Every year, I try to get a new ornament for the tree. This year, I was standing on line waiting to buy a special present and my eye fell on this one – the only one like it in a display of little gold balls. It spoke to me. Merry Christmas, Mudflatters. Today, Anchorage lost a great soul. He wasn’t a political leader, he didn’t hold office, but he did what we all should do – he showed up. And he didn’t just show up for a pet cause, or a particular belief. He showed up for all of them. Open Thread – Santa Con
Sitting at the Taproot Cafe this evening over a glass of wine, I noticed a strange phenomenon. A steady stream of Santas, some with elves in tow began to filter in. Then came reindeer. And a grinch. I learned from those more knowledgeable than myself that this very night was “Santa Con” in Anchorage. I had no idea what Santa Con was, but apparently it’s a yearly event that I somehow missed.
