The Poe-Mobile Hits the Road
I had an opportunity a few days ago to stop in at an event at the residence of Bob and Terzah Poe. Bob Poe is the only Democrat so far to officially throw his hat in the ring to run for governor in 2010. After having an “If not me, who? If not now, when?” moment, he decided to declare his candidacy. At the time, the Daily News column The Ear, said that it probably wasn’t a good idea to run for governor if the first question people asked was, “Who’s Bob Poe?” He took the point, and has spent…
Twit, Twitter Twitterer. News from Emmonak.
Gee whiz! Think the governor has “issues” with a certain Dennis Zaki traveling to Emmonak? Remember, there was a big dust-up when Dennis filmed Palin’s introduction to speaker Michael Reagan when he was in town. Radio talk show host Eddie Burke and others questioned his credentials. Well, question no more. In the rapid-fire series of tweets below, you’ll see that via Twitter (aka the unofficial-official Palin news source) he has been referred to as, and I quote … “CNN reporter.” I’m sure Dennis will feel all validated now. And behold the rest of this 1-2-3 Tweetsnark! AKGovSarahPalinJohn also met w/CNN…
Palin Blasts Blogger – Again.
Welcome once again to the wacky world of Alaska politics. When we last left our governor, she was involved in a knock down drag out fight with David Letterman over a crass comment about her daughter getting “knocked up” during a baseball game. We all know how that turned out, and regardless of which side you were on, or whether you were somewhere in the middle, it was quite a spectacle. A battle of the Titans. Former VP candidate and Queen of Alaska Sarah Palin vs. The Undisputed King of Late Night Comedy who can make or break politicians with…
Breaking News – Three More Ethics Complaints Against Palin, and Then Some?!
Alaska Report has breaking news! According to the site, there are three (count ’em…THREE) ethics complaints against Governor Sarah Palin coming down the pike. Mention is also made of a “long simmering embezzlement/IRS scandal” that is still being looked at by the feds. Wow. I have no more news than that, folks. Check it out at the link above, and use this thread to… I don’t know…. speculate I guess! Have at it.
Another One Bites the Dust.
The 2012 Republican prospects are a bit challenged these days. First, there was Bobby Jindal and his famous “What the Hell was THAT?” response to President Obama’s address to Congress back in March. That’s the one where he ridiculed money to be used for volcano monitoring….just before a major volcanic eruption in Alaska, along with looking, in general, like a creepy version of Mr. Rogers who had no clue what he was talking about. Then, Newt Gingrich did his best to alienate women, Latinos, and anyone with an ounce of sense by calling Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor a racist….
When in Doubt, Trust….The Bush Administration?
A potentially precedent-setting ruling in a case involving Alaska resource development came through the Supreme Court yesterday. It involved the legal contamination of a naturally occurring fish-bearing lake on the one hand, and the economic interest of a mining corporation on the other. I’ll give you one guess who the court ruled for…and it wasn’t the environment. (A lightbulb goes off over your head) “Heyyyy, is this the same Supreme Court that ruled in favor of Exxon recently in that oil spill case? The one where the environment and local people got the short end of the stick in favor…
Brother Can You Spare $600,000?
$600,000. That’s the growing pile of legal debt that Sarah Palin claims to have incurred since last summer. We don’t actually know that for a fact, nor do we know how these legal bills are itemized, or even for whom, because like so many things in the Palin administration, (leaning over and whispering in your ear) it’s super secret. But, that’s OK. We’re not going to worry our pretty little heads about stuff like that. This mountain of debt is blamed, of course, on ethics complaints, and those who file them. “Ohhhh! They’re trying to bankrupt the governor! See, none…
