Joe Miller & 20 Million Mexicans
I’m sure you saw this last week in the ADN, or you might have even seen it in your mailbox. Joe Miller claiming that Mark Begich wants these tattooed Central American ‘gang’ members to not only become citizens… but also vote. “And if 20 Million illegals vote, you can kiss the 2nd Amendment goodbye. I am the only candidate who favors Voter ID.” -Joe Miller Let’s break this down, Joe. First, according to the US government and the Pew Hispanic Trust numbers, there are 11.7 million immigrants living illegally in the country. So I’m not sure where the 20 million…
He Was a Crook: Nixon Resigned 40 Years Ago
Nixon announced his resignation 40 years ago today and signed this document the next day. It’s sad that the current political scene in DC makes me miss him, but still, even though he would deny it… he was a crook. One just needs to listen to his own words on the White House tapes to prove that. From bombing illegally in Cambodia to Watergate, he was a political monster to the core. With all that said he’s one of the reasons I went into journalism. I keep this document on my computers hard drive to remind myself why I do what…
Show Me the Troops! Cause I don’t see ’em…
In a story published in The Daily Beast and Propublica, Kim Barker breaks wide open the Tea Party Express-associated group Move America Forward’s financial dealings. Barker writes: “Move America Forward calls itself the nation’s “largest grassroots pro-troop organization,” and has recruited a bevy of Republican luminaries, including former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney, to support its efforts.” “The driving force behind Move America Forward is Sal Russo, 67, the longtime political consultant who is listed on the 10-year-old charity’s tax returns as chief strategist. “Russo is better known for helping to form the Our Country…

Border Watch: 13 Hours on the Rio Grande
It’s 110 degrees out here and it’s only 10 a.m. Marcus and I will be here for a total of 13 hours. At 10am, it’s hour 4. Supposedly, this is where many people have been crossing the Rio Grande en masse. The photos we’ve seen from this spot by the very excellent Daily News shooter Marcus Santos show rafts coming across the river. We need this shot, as it will pretty much justify this whole trip to Texas. The rafts in the photos go right up to the American shore, with the Border Patrol waiting. From there, they are quickly processed and sent to…

Alaska ADN – Study envisions possible fallout from a Canadian Beaufort oil spill A well blowout, pipeline breach or vessel accident in the Canadian Beaufort Sea could spew spilled oil westward for months, polluting waters off Alaska and soiling habitat used by whales, seals and migrating seabirds, according to a study released Friday by the World Wildlife Fund. Dan Sullivan’s Website of Lies Continues
Ok, maybe that’s a bit of a dramatic title for this piece, as we’re not talking about something criminal, just criminally stupid. Over the past couple months I’ve written about many of DC Dan’s awkward photographic adventures into Alaska, eventually causing him enough shame to switch his photos to ones actually taken in Alaska. I thought DC Dan’s adventures were finally done – his campaign long out of the early stages, and running at full speed, raising hundred of thousands of dollars. I would have guessed that he might actually have gotten some researchers to join his staff, maybe even some locals…
Here’s the Face of the Immigration ‘Problem’
[Editors note: We sent Zach to the border to cover the story of the children immigrants, or as we call them refugees.] I met Umberto in McAllen, Texas. He’s one of the immigrants that Fox News and the right have been claiming are bringing everything from pot to the plague across the southern border. Truthfully, Umberto is one of the coolest kids I’ve ever met – and I didn’t understand a word he said to me. I’m currently working on getting everything translated. From the moment I met him, he was hamming it up for the camera, grabbing my mic…
